Black Bear Hunting Season August 15 – October 15
The Muskwa-Kechika holds a lot of bears. Mature boars roam the alpine meadows, river bottoms, lake edges, and with the kind of low hunting pressure that comes with fly-in only access, they grow old and heavy. We hunt spot and stalk, on horseback, glassing until we find an animal worth going after.
Colour phase bears show up in this part of Northern BC: cinnamon and chocolate alongside black. Glassing sessions, in turn, are genuinely interesting; especially for clients looking for a unique mount.
Season runs August 15 through October 15, which lines up cleanly with every other species we guide:
- Stone Sheep – overlaps from August 15 onward
- Mountain Goat – same terrain, same timeframe
- Canadian Moose – the north country holds bears well into October
- Rocky Mountain Elk – September timing works well
