Compulsory Harvest When Encountered
Under BC wildlife management protocol, wolf is a compulsory harvest species in our guide area. When a clean, ethical shot presents itself during your hunt, you take it. Our guides know this country and they know wolves.
Encounters happen most naturally during Stone Sheep and Moose hunts, when wolves are working the same drainages and valley systems your guide is already covering. They show up during Elk and Black Bear seasons too. Wolf season runs August 1 through October 15, concurrent with everything else on the calendar.
The compulsory protocol exists for good reason. Wolf populations in the Muskwa-Kechika are managed to protect the prey species that make this territory worth hunting. A wolf taken here is also a serious beast. Big animals, full coats by September, and the kind of backcountry setting that makes the story worth telling.
